Crucifixion

By
Rachel Edwards

He is no ordinary man,
He does things no other man can,

He was born of a virgin and a carpenter dad,
He came into the world like no other child had,

He was a very smart boy, teaching priests older than He,
He commanded Zacchaeus to come out of a tree,

He healed a leper, and walked on the sea,
The people questioned, who could this be?

He was the promised Messiah, He had come,
To conquer the grave and save all, not some,

Some thought He was great, and some did not,
He caused controversy and some people fought,

The Pharisees hated Him, and did everything they could,
To make Him suffer, like He knew He would,

Because His father sent His son to be the one,
To sacrifice His life, even when His sins were none,

He was beaten and He was bruised,
His followers devastated, the Pharisees amused,

He had to carry His own cross and died on a hill,
He died for our sins, against His own will,

He fought and fought until He couldn’t anymore,
The skies grew grey, and the Earth began to roar,

It was a sad, sad day, the day Jesus died,
The believers were crushed, they all cried,

But then one day the women walked past,
To see the stone gone, they ran real fast,

They were going to tell the disciples how His body was no longer there,
When Jesus came to them; He kissed their faces, and touched their hair,

They were so happy He had risen from the grave,
This man, who conquered the grave, was mighty to save,

This man is Jesus, He is my Savior,
He did me an unrepayable favor,

His love is so great, I can’t even imagine,
That he loves me so much, He would die for my sin,

This man is not dead, but very much alive in my heart,
And to think, He loved me, right from the start,

If you don’t know my Jesus, I tell you today,
That He can change your life, and take your pain away.
