Death Crowning Innocence by Elizabeth McCoy

Death crowning innocence,

A contradiction as I see.

And if you are in the right frame of mind,

You’ll see the same as me.

Look closely, how awkward it may be,

To see your child so close at heart,

Be held by one you loathe and fear.

Death crowning innocence,

A contrast may it be.

But see life comes from death,

As queer it may seem.

Look closely at the sight of this

Death holding innocence

Like a mother so kind and with such love.
